The flipside of your story is a better story. God loves you and believes in you in light of and despite of your flipside. God sees and knows everything about you. Everything you’re ashamed of, everything you’re proud of. God knows how you’ve been less than God’s best: past, present, and future. God loves you despite your flipside. Despite everything. There is nothing you can do that can make God not love you.
Have you ever considered how easily, how quickly your mind and heart rush to the worst parts of you?
Dear God,
Today I come to You with my student on my heart and mind.
You see every part of them—what they show the world, and what they hide deep within. You know the story they’re living, and You know the flipside—the side that’s often filled with questions, doubts, shame, and fear.
Lord, when their mind rushes to the worst parts of their story, remind them of Your story—the one that sees beauty in brokenness and purpose in pain. Help them realize that You love them fully and unconditionally, not in spite of their flipside, but through it.
Give them the courage to be honest—with themselves, with others, and with You. Surround them with voices that speak truth and love when their own thoughts turn critical. Help them to see what You see: someone worth redeeming, someone worth dying for, someone with a purpose.
Let them know that just like Mary Magdalene, their flipside has the power to become a testimony that changes lives—including their own.
Jesus, write a better story with their life. One that starts not with perfection, but with grace.
In Your Name I pray,
Amen.
