Next Steps

Whether your next step is to learn more about membership, explore ways you can serve, follow Christ in Baptism, or find community, you can find it all here.

Salvation

Salvation is a gift from God to man. Man can never make up for his sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Baptism

Baptism by immersion symbolizes the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and is your public declaration that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Baptism does not save you, but shows the world that you have already been saved. And while baptism is not required for salvation, it is a biblical command and demonstrates your love and obedience to Christ. Your baptism day is a day of celebration of your story and walk with Christ, and we would be honored to be part of these next steps in your journey!

How to Read the Bible

If you've ever tried to read the Bible, you might have come away feeling more than a little confused, and maybe even discouraged. The Bible is an amazing book, full of beautiful truths - but the reality is that it has many different styles of writing, and was written to cultures and times very different from our own! In order to begin to understand it well, we have to be willing to understand a little about the cultures in which it was written.

Check out this "How to Read the Bible" series from the Bible Project for a great foundation to better understand what the Bible is, how it's organized, and how each style of writing and cultural expression contributes to its overall story and message.

Prayer + Spiritual Disciplines

We become who we are through the habits we repeat, and that includes how we grow in our faith. Spiritual disciplines are intentional practices—like reading Scripture, prayer, and worship—that help shape our character to look more like Jesus. Just like physical training, becoming spiritually strong takes time, effort, and dedication, but it’s worth it because it connects us to the life God wants for us. God already loves us because of Jesus, but growing in faith takes practice—it doesn’t just happen on its own.

Practicing the Way is a great resource with free courses that introduce various spiritual disciplines and walk you through why and how you can start practicing them in your own life.

Commit to a local Church Family

Becoming a member is like being part of the family. Like a strong family, we are in this together. Membership doesn’t come with rights … it comes with responsibilities. Becoming a member is a way of saying, “As best as I can be, I am all in!” Membership at Sugar Hill Church is not about adding your name to a roster; it’s about connecting with the people and the vision of the church. We would love for you to be a part of our church family!

A few times a year, we offer a Membership Class, which offers the opportunity to learn details about beliefs, leadership, how we handle money, and how we intentionally organize our church.

Part of our mission as a church is to help you discover your purpose - explore your God-given gifts and talents, and find ways to use them to make an impact on the world around you. Did you know it takes approximately 300 volunteers each Sunday to make everything happen that happens at Sugar Hill Church? And there are so many ways to serve outside of the Sunday experience as well. We can’t do what we do without YOU!
