Very Important!

  • Medications (in Ziploc bag w/ instructions & student’s name on it. ALL medication must be checked in to our Camp Nurse)
  • Extra spending money for snacks, arcade games, and free day activities (water parks, go-carting, jet skiing, parasailing, etc.). And don't forget to bring some money to snag some souvenirs from the BigStuf Store (t-shirts, books, etc.).

Personal Items

*Note about snacks:

  • Please be mindful of the potential that your student will be rooming with students with allergy concerns and avoid common allergens like peanuts.
  • For the ride down, the charter bus company only allows snacks that don’t make a mess and water in a bottle with a lid. Gum, sticky candy, and other messy snacks (cheetos, etc) are NOT ALLOWED on the vehicles.

Dress Code

While it will be hot at camp, we are still requiring our students and leaders to dress modestly and appropriately. This means that no butts, no boxers, no cleavage, and no bellies should be seen. Only bring clothing that has been thoroughly tested for any potential wardrobe malfunctions in a variety of highly active situations. If there is an item of clothing becomes problematic, we will ask the student to change into something else they brought, or provide an alternative item of clothing to wear. Student Ministry staff have final say on dress code.
 
BigStuf's Dress Code:
  • Guys, here are some parameters to follow:
    • Please make sure all attire is modest and appropriate
    • Please wear clothes with appropriate messages on them
    • No speedos or anything that semi resembles a speedo
    • Unless at the beach or pool, wear a t-shirt at all times that completely covers the chest and torso. No sagging of shorts, pants or swim trunks
  • Girls, here are some parameters to follow:
    • Please make sure all attire is modest and appropriate
    • One piece bathing suits OR tankinis that fully cover the stomach. (NO high rise bottoms or low cut tops)
    • No crop tops. Stomach should be covered at all times
    • All shirts, dresses, and rompers should have a modest neckline
    • Skirts, dresses, shorts, and rompers should keep you fully covered when bending over

Some examples:

  • Boys bottoms/swimwear should fit appropriately with no concern of butt/crack/underwear exposure in any situation. Please combine with a t-shirt if needed. Speedos are not allowed.
  • Girls swimsuit options are one piece or tankini with minimal midriff. Swimsuits must provide ample chest coverage; no plunging necklines or monokini tops Swimsuit bottoms should not be high-legged, cheeky cut, etc. to minimize risk of exposure during activities.
  • Shorts should be long enough to reliably cover butt cheeks completely in all situations, which includes standing, sitting, and/or when bending over.
  • No midriff/cropped/belly shirts. The hem of the shirt must fall below the top of your shorts. Tops should be reliably covering and securely supportive.
  • Shirts and tank tops must provide coverage below the neckline, minimizing cleavage and covering the chest area.
If there is an item of clothing/swimsuit that you have a question or concern about, please message Allison and she will be happy to answer questions. In addition, we are even more careful about what we post on social media, so if a student is concerned about being featured in posts, more conservative clothing choices will increase the likelihood that any pictures or video taken of them will be usable.

Rules & Expectations

SUGAR HILL STUDENTS COMMUNITY COVENANT

Because of the potential dangers regarding a trip such as this, I understand the need to be responsible on this trip and follow these specific guidelines. I realize my actions may affect the safety and the community of this trip.

Guidelines

  1. I understand that I need to abstain from public (or private) displays of affection if I am not married.
  2. I understand that I cannot be in any area without adult supervision.
  3. Due to the nature of this trip, I understand the need to exercise caution around the water and I will act in a responsible way so as to not endanger myself or anyone else. I will abide by the established “buddy system” and will only swim in designated areas.
  4. I understand the need for separated sleeping arrangements, and will honor this.  I will not enter the floor of the opposite sex for any reason.
  5. I understand that I cannot be outside of my hall after “lights out.”
  6. I understand that I’m not allowed to POSSESS or USE tobacco, alcohol, or any other type of drugs.
  7. I understand that I’m not allowed to POSSESS or USE any weapon or fireworks.
  8. I understand that I’m not allowed to haze, harass, threaten, or intimidate another student, whether in-person or online. This includes pranks or practical jokes of any kind.

Consequences for breaking guidelines

1 | This action will be confronted once, and activity time will be taken away if repeated.
2-8 | These actions will result in being sent home at my family’s expense.

 

BIGSTUF'S CODE OF CONDUCT

I understand that all BigStuf attendees must exhibit appropriate behavior while participating in BigStuf activities.

Every person deserves to feel comfortable in his or her surroundings, and to feel safe physically, sexually, emotionally, and spiritually. My church agrees to hold BigStuf harmless and to indemnify BigStuf from any damages or costs as a result of inappropriate behavior on the part of any adult leaders or students in attendance.

Appropriate behavior includes (but is not limited to):

  • No smoking on BigStuf premises (for purposes of this document, "BigStuf Premises" refers to Boardwalk Beach Hotel).
  • The presence or use of drugs or alcohol on BigStuf Premises is strictly prohibited.
  • Always show honor and respect towards others' personal boundaries.
  • No weapons of any kind.
  • Respectful of others belongings (don't take what isn't yours).
  • Be mindful of your surroundings and don't put yourself or your group in any compromising situations.
  • Be smart and respectful with your clothing while participating in BigStuf activities. Please refer to the BigStuf Dress Code below.

BigStuf Leadership and Employees have the authority to have anyone removed from the BigStuf Camp for violation of any BigStuf policies and standards. BigStuf execution of this authority will always include consultation with group leadership.

Reasons for removal may include, but are not limited to: breaking camp rules, regulations or guidelines or participation in any inappropriate behavior. We ask that all attendees uphold the highest moral standards while representing BigStuf.

 

ELECTRONICS

Since this is such a short time for them to be together, we want to limit distractions and build meaningful connections. Because one of the biggest distractions a student has are devices, we will not be allowing phones or any devices on the bus or at camp. This means that any phone, iPad, tablet, or device with a screen that a student brings will be confiscated and returned to the student at the end of camp when we arrive back at church.

If you have any emergent reason to contact your child, or vice versa, our staff and leaders will all have their phones with them during the week. You can find our Student Ministry staff phone numbers and your child’s group leader’s phone numbers on the Contact tab of this page.

Check-In

  • Check-in will begin at 11am in the Back Lobby (click to view on Google Maps) of the church on Monday morning (6/3)
    • make sure to drive around to the back parking lot and enter the building under the big overhang.
    • Please leave luggage in your vehicle, but make sure to bring ANY medication in to check it in with our Med Team.

Everyone will make the following stops during check-in - please continue walking all the way through the loop, which will take you back to the parking lot to load your luggage on the busses.

Stop 1 | GRADE TABLES

Students should check in at the Registration Table by rising grade level, where they will be given a name bracelet, bus assignment, and room assignment. A LOT of logistics are considered in making these assignments, so unfortunately, we will not be able to make changes to them.

Stop 2 | MEDICATION TABLE

After checking in at their Registration Table, ALL STUDENTS AND A PARENT/GUARDIAN must then go by the Medication Table and either check in their medication OR the parent/guardian sign that they are not bringing medication.

*IMPORTANT: All medication should be in a ziploc bag with student’s full name on bag and written instructions included.

Stop 3 | T-SHIRT TABLE

The last table before walking back out into the parking lot will be the T-Shirt table. Give the Adult Leaders your name and they’ll grab the shirt size you registered for. Sizes cannot be swapped during check-in. After students receive their shirts, they will be directed to the back parking lot to retrieve and load their luggage.

PARENT/STUDENT MEETING

After students check in, we will have a brief orientation meeting in the Worship Center. Parents are encouraged to attend. We plan to leave SHC by 12:30pm.

RETURN & PICKUP

We are planning to arrive back at SHC around 1pm Friday afternoon. We will be posting updates and having students contact their rides with updated ETA information while we’re en route. Please be sure you are following Sugar Hill Students on Facebook and/or Instagram for real time updates.
