Because of the potential dangers regarding a trip such as this, I understand the need to be responsible on this trip and follow these specific guidelines. I realize my actions may affect the safety and the community of this trip.
Guidelines
Consequences for breaking guidelines
1 | This action will be confronted once, and activity time will be taken away if repeated.
2-8 | These actions will result in being sent home at my family’s expense.
I understand that all BigStuf attendees must exhibit appropriate behavior while participating in BigStuf activities.
Every person deserves to feel comfortable in his or her surroundings, and to feel safe physically, sexually, emotionally, and spiritually. My church agrees to hold BigStuf harmless and to indemnify BigStuf from any damages or costs as a result of inappropriate behavior on the part of any adult leaders or students in attendance.
Appropriate behavior includes (but is not limited to):
BigStuf Leadership and Employees have the authority to have anyone removed from the BigStuf Camp for violation of any BigStuf policies and standards. BigStuf execution of this authority will always include consultation with group leadership.
Reasons for removal may include, but are not limited to: breaking camp rules, regulations or guidelines or participation in any inappropriate behavior. We ask that all attendees uphold the highest moral standards while representing BigStuf.
Since this is such a short time for them to be together, we want to limit distractions and build meaningful connections. Because one of the biggest distractions a student has are devices, there will be designated times for devices to be put away. This means that any phone, iPad, tablet, or device with a screen that a student brings will be held during times that require focus (worship, small group, times a leader sees fit, etc.) and returned to the student during free time periods.
While they are allowed to have devices, there will be certain rules in place. For example, if a student doesn't answer the phone when a leader or staff member calls, that phone will be taken for a time period (at the discretion of the leader).
If you have any emergent reason to contact your child, or vice versa, our staff and leaders will all have their phones with them during the week. You can find our Student Ministry staff phone numbers and your child’s group leader’s phone numbers on the Contact tab of this page.
If you have any questions or would like more clarification, we would be glad to talk through this with you!
While it will be hot at camp, we are still requiring our students and leaders to dress modestly and appropriately. This means that no butts, no boxers, no cleavage, and no bellies should be seen. Only bring clothing that has been thoroughly tested for any potential wardrobe malfunctions in a variety of highly active situations. If there is an item of clothing becomes problematic, we will ask the student to change into something else they brought, or provide an alternative item of clothing to wear. Student Ministry staff have final say on dress code.

If there is an item of clothing/swimsuit that you have a question or concern about, please message Allison and she will be happy to answer questions. In addition, we are even more careful about what we post on social media, so if a student is concerned about being featured in posts, more conservative clothing choices will increase the likelihood that any pictures or video taken of them will be usable.

Everyone will make the following stops during check-in - please continue walking all the way through the loop, which will take you back to the parking lot to load your luggage on the busses.
Students should check in at the Registration Table by rising grade level, where they will be given a name bracelet, bus assignment, and room assignment. A LOT of logistics are considered in making these assignments, so unfortunately, we will not be able to make changes to them.
After checking in at their Registration Table, ALL STUDENTS AND A PARENT/GUARDIAN must then go by the Medication Table and either check in their medication OR the parent/guardian sign that they are not bringing medication.
*IMPORTANT: All medication should be in a ziploc bag with student’s full name on bag and written instructions included.
The last table before walking back out into the parking lot will be the T-Shirt table. Give the Adult Leaders your name and they’ll grab the shirt size you registered for. Sizes cannot be swapped during check-in. After students receive their shirts, they will be directed to the back parking lot to retrieve and load their luggage.
After students check in, we will have a brief orientation meeting in the Worship Center. Parents are encouraged to attend.
We will be posting updates and having students contact their rides with updated ETA information while we’re en route. Please be sure you are following Sugar Hill Students on Facebook and/or Instagram for real time updates.
It is crazy how easily our perspective of God is radically and harmfully distorted. Interesting that Jesus could not have been more explicitly clear. John 5:39 tells us that Jesus himself said, “you search the scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the scriptures point to me.” The theme for this week is the "Flipside." The public-facing version of you isn’t the whole you. And the story people see? It’s only one side. But there’s more. Your story is connected to Jesus’ story. And when you start asking the deeper questions, you begin to find real answers.
Heavenly Father,
Today, I lift up my student to You—their heart, their dreams, their fears, and all the places where expectation and disappointment have taken root.
There are times they hope for things, but confusion grows when their hopes start to turn into expectations—demands, even—about how life should look, how You should act, and what "good" should mean. Help them release the illusion of control. Remind them, gently and clearly, that hope doesn’t require everything to go a certain way—it simply trusts that You are good no matter the outcome.
Where my child is carrying unspoken expectations of You, God, I ask that You meet them not with shame but with grace. Show them that You are not limited to their boxes—You are bigger, kinder, and more present than they’ve dared to imagine.
And when they fall short—when they fail, mess up, or feel like they've missed the mark—remind them that Your love is not based on performance. It’s based on who You are. Speak to them the flipside truth: that their failure doesn’t define them. Your goodness does.
Lord, heal the image they carry of You. Where they have believed You are disappointed in them, replace that lie with Your steady gaze of love. Help them believe that when You think about them, You think "I love you." Let that be the voice that drowns out fear, shame, and the crushing pressure to be perfect.
May they know that even in failure, even when life doesn’t go as planned, even when hope feels hard—You are still with them. And that is more than enough.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen.
