Building Bridges - Building a Bridge to Your Heart - February 15, 2026

Proverbs 4:23  — “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

The Question That Lingers

“What’s in your wallet?” The ad asks it like it’s a challenge.
But maybe, for us, that’s not the real question.
Maybe the one that echoes through heaven right now is this:
“What’s in your heart?”

Every decision you make, every relationship you cultivate, every dream you chase—it all flows from what’s happening beneath the surface.

The Heart That Directs the Life

Proverbs 4:23  — “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.”

  • Not your job title.
  • Not your bank account.
  • Not your social media feed.
  • Your heart.

One Word, One Focus

So, what if you focused your whole year around one word?
Not a thousand resolutions you’ll forget by February, but one single word that captures who you want to become in Christ.

Romans 12:2 says, “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”

The Danger of Drifting

Luke 6:45, “A good person produces good things from the treasury of a good heart, and an evil person produces evil things from the treasury of an evil heart. What you say flows from what is in your heart.”

What’s in my heart?” but also “What have I put there?”

Because you can’t expect peace to come out when you’ve only been feeding on fear.

  • You can’t produce faith when you’ve been meditating on anxiety.
  • You can’t pour out love when you’ve been soaking in bitterness.

When the Word Takes Root

Over time, that word starts working like a seed.

Matthew 13:23, But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.

That one little word might change your whole year by changing your heart posture.

“Who are you becoming?” Not “What are you achieving?”

Choosing the Word

Ask God to reveal your word. Not a trendy word, not a churchy word—one that speaks directly to your soul right now.

Open Scripture daily around that theme.

  • Peace (Philippians 4)
  • Courage (Joshua 1)

Share it with your community. Accountability leads to transformation.

“God, You get to define the direction of my heart this year.”

  • What’s in your heart?
  • Is it clutter, or is it calling?
  • Is it worry, or worship?

Philippians 1:6 says, “I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
