Jesus said the Kingdom wasn’t defined by borders or politics — it was defined by His presence. “The Kingdom of God is near!” (Mark 1:15 NLT)
That means it’s Right here. Right now. Not someday. Not “after I get my act together.” Not “one day when heaven shows up.”
It means the Kingdom is and has broken into the world — our world — through Jesus.
Jesus described the Kingdom as a mustard seed: “It’s the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants.” (Matthew 13:31–32, NLT)
That’s how the Kingdom gets planted — not with fireworks, but with faith.
Not with a shout, but with a seed.
The Kingdom doesn’t come from the top down — it comes from the inside out.
When the Pharisees asked Jesus when the Kingdom would come, He said: “The Kingdom of God can’t be detected by visible signs… For the Kingdom of God is already among you.” (Luke 17:20–21, NLT)
The Kingdom shows up every time God’s will gets done — here on earth, just like it is in heaven.
It’s not about what you build; it’s about who you become.
That means the Kingdom isn’t something we wait for. It’s something we walk in.
Jesus kept surprising people with how the Kingdom actually works. He said the poor are blessed. The mourners are comforted. The meek inherit the earth (Matthew 5:3–5 NLT)
In God’s Kingdom
It’s what Paul meant when he wrote, “For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 14:17, NLT)
Let's put that in everyday language:
That’s why Jesus said, “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need.” (Matthew 6:33, NLT)
You and I aren’t waiting on Heaven; Heaven is waiting on us to live like citizens of the Kingdom.
Revelation 11:15 says, “The world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.”
So yes — we live in a world with pain, cancer, addiction, gun violence, political strife and heartbreak. But every time the light of Jesus breaks through that darkness, we get a glimpse of what’s coming.
Friend, you are exactly who Jesus came for.
“Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping Him with holy fear and awe.”(Hebrews 12:28, NLT)
