Does the Church Matter Anymore? - November 16, 2025

“Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”  - Romans 12:4-5 NLT

God’s not looking for isolated superheroes. He’s gathering a symphony of soloists and band geeks and people who’ve never hit a right note in their life—because the beauty doesn’t happen in the solos, it happens together.

“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals, and to prayer” - Acts 2:42 NLT

Everybody needs somebody who says, “Lean on me.” And by the way, the band sounds awful with just one instrument.

“God places the lonely in families.”  - Psalm 68:6 (NLT)

  • Regular church attendance reduces depression by nearly 29%.
  • Weekly attenders have an 84% lower suicide risk—let that sink in.
  • Churchgoers enjoy better overall health, longer lifespans, and stronger marriages.
  • People who worship together volunteer more, live with greater meaning, and have deeper relationships.

Jesus said, “Where two or three gather together as my followers, I am there among them” (Matthew 18:20, NLT).

Church is a community.

  • Not a noun, but a verb.
  • Not a ritual or routine, but a wild adventure in faith, free from the trappings of false religion.
  • The church is you, not an edifice.
  • The church is where people belong and find belief.
  • Not a country club where we all pay enough money to belong.
  • We belong because it’s the perfect place for people who aren’t!

Galatians 6:2 (NLT) says, “Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.”

You are wanted. You are needed. The music of this community isn’t complete without your note.

Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT): “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another.”
