But it won’t look like what we expect.
“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God… he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.” — Philippians 2:5-7 NLT
So, what does that mean for us?
It means that love is our way.
“This is my command: Love one another the way I loved you.” — John 15:12 MSG
That means:
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list. But there is a second to set alongside it: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ These two commands are pegs; everything in God’s Law and the Prophets hangs from them.” — Matthew 22:37-40 MSG
It’s not a footnote; it’s our headline.
Loving God and loving people until the lines blur and you’re not sure which one you’re doing—because it’s both. Always both.
He doesn’t say, “Sit and wait; build walls and hope they show up.” No—he sends us:
“…I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age." — Matthew 28:18-20 NLT
Loving God and loving people until the lines blur and you’re not sure which one you’re doing—because it’s both. Always both.
And in this season? Sugar Hill Church, we are doubling our Kingdom impact over the next three years. Because love, unleashed, only compounds.
“All the believers devoted themselves… to fellowship, and to sharing in meals… And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.” — Acts 2:42-47 NLT
Jesus’ way was not a theory; it was a table, filled with food, strangers turned to friends, burdens carried, wounds tended.
How do we live it? Let’s count the ways:
Here’s the real surprise:
When you chase after loving like Jesus, when you love first and ask questions later, God pours out life.
For three straight years: double-digit growth.
Because love keeps expanding, stretching out, making room for more.
Love multiplies—always.
“Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.” — Ephesians 4:32 NLT
So—what’s the future of the church? It’s you. Here. Now.
That the Great Commandment and the Great Commission were never meant for the church at rest—but for the church on the move, the church with her sleeves rolled up, hands dirty, eyes open to suffering, heart flung wide.
So let’s go—let’s love unreserved, let’s serve without end, let’s be the church Jesus set loose to change the world.
