In this episode of the Weekday Podcast, Pastor Chuck Allen discusses the importance of focus in life, drawing from Matthew 6:33. He explains that seeking God's kingdom first is not about adding tasks to our to-do list but about adjusting our perspective to see life through His lens. Using the example of his grandson playing with a pair of glasses, Chuck illustrates how spiritual focus helps us recognize God's active work in our daily lives. He encourages listeners to take three minutes to realign their focus and prioritize God's kingdom above all else.

Hi, everybody. Thanks so much for joining me on today's weekday podcast. This is Pastor Chuck Allen.

You know, in my journey of faith and leadership, I've learned that where we place our focus shapes everything about our lives. Today, let's dive into Matthew 6:33, which says, Seek the kingdom of God above all else and live righteously, and he'll give you everything you need.

Now, some versions say, and added to you will be all the good stuff. Well, that's my version. But let's talk about focus because he puts it in order. You seek first, you know what to seek, the kingdom of God.

By the way, who ushered into our world the kingdom of God, none other than Jesus himself. And he says, do that above everything else. Because of that, you can live righteously because you get to borrow Christ's righteousness. And then you get everything you need and everything's added to you. You can't mess up the order. That's why focus is such a big deal.

So let's talk about focus today. In our world of endless notifications and constant demands, focus has become a super rare commodity. I was thinking about this the other day while I was watching my grandson play. Now he's playing around and he's fascinated with this pair of glasses that Jenny has. They're reading glasses. They're looking like they're magnifying glasses, I suppose. And he's concentrated on the beam of light that's going through it. That's exactly what spiritual focus does in our life.

When Jesus talks about seeking first the kingdom of God, he's inviting us to adjust our lens. It's not about adding another task to our to-do list or doing more. Seeking first the kingdom of God is not about getting stuff done. It's not working through a task list. It's about changing how we see things. Actually, it's about how we think and see all things.

The kingdom of God, it isn't a distant realm. It's God's active rule and reign in our daily lives. It's not a location. It's not a destination. It's how we see life. Think about it. What's the first thing you check in the morning? Your phone, your email, social media. What if we made seeking God's kingdom our first focus? That means actively looking for where God is working and you joining Him wherever that is.

So before I wrap up today, I want to give you this thought. Take three minutes right now to pause and realign your focus and ask yourself, what am I truly seeking first? Remember, focused isn't just about what you look at. It's about what you're looking through.

Tomorrow, in our next podcast, we'll explore what it means to make the kingdom our priority. But until then, this is Pastor Chuck reminding you that where your focus goes, your life flows. Thanks so much for listening to today's weekday podcast.
