Let It Roll

In this episode of the Weekday Podcast, Pastor Chuck discusses the illusion of control and the importance of surrendering to God. He highlights Proverbs 16:3, explaining that the Hebrew word for "commit" means to roll something away, just as the stone was rolled from Jesus’ tomb. True peace comes from trusting God rather than trying to control every outcome. He encourages listeners to identify an area they struggle to control, write a prayer surrendering it to God, and pray it daily until they feel free. Letting go is not about willpower but about trusting God’s plan over personal desires.

Oh, my. Here is the big deal that we want to talk about today, and that is control. I don't know about you, but when I get stressed out, I love to control things. Or at least believe I am. Hi, everybody. I'm Pastor Chuck Allen, and I want to thank you for joining me on today's weekday podcast.

Listen to what Proverbs 16:3 has to say. "Commit your actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed." Let's be honest, y'all. Most of us like to be in control. We think if we work harder, plan better, or manage things more effectively, we can control the outcome.

But the truth is, control is an illusion. The Hebrew word for commit in Proverbs 16:3 means to roll something away. It's the same word used to describe the stone being rolled away from Jesus tomb. When we roll our worries, our anxieties, our addictions, our behaviors, when we roll those off of us and onto God, what we're saying is, I trust you to handle this, because clearly I'm not. I mean, that's letting go of control.

You say, well, Chuck, how do I tangibly do that? Well, pick that one area in your life that may just be that thing that you're trying to control, but you know, you're not. Surrender it. Write a prayer literally asking the Lord to roll that worry over into his lap. I mean, what are you holding onto too tightly? Pray that prayer that you've written down every morning and every night until such time as you feel like you've successful, allowed it to roll away. And you will discover that letting go of control is a matter of trust.

It's not a matter of willpower. It's a matter of trust. Let this be your prayer, 'Lord. I've been trying to control this area of my life, but it's exhausting me. I surrender it to you. Would you help me trust your will over my want,' friend? When you do, it is amazing what the Lord will do for you as he lets you roll it off of your lap and onto his. Wow. That sounds so freeing to me.

God bless you, friend. Thanks so much for joining me on today's weekday podcast.
