In this episode of the weekday podcast, Pastor Bobby McGraw reflects on the value of time, reminding us that we have 86,400 seconds each day to use wisely. Drawing from Psalm 90, he encourages us to treasure our time, invest it in relationships, manage it well, and enjoy the moments we have with others. By making the most of each day, we can build happy memories and live with purpose.

Well, hey there. Thanks so much for being on the weekday podcast today. We're glad you're here. Our hope is that this is encouraging.

Today, I want to think about the 86,400, not dollars that we get every day, but seconds that we get every day. Now think about that. We get 86,400 seconds. If those seconds were dollars, and if those dollars disappeared at midnight, I guarantee you that all of us would figure out a way to spend it.

Well, the truth is we get seconds. We get that many seconds, but we don't get to roll it over. We don't get to decide, hey, I'm going to use that later. We have to use it today.

So recently Pastor Chuck and I did a teaching around this idea of the power and just the importance of time. And it was all built off of this verse that comes from Psalm 90, written by Moses himself. And he said, "teach us to realize the brevity of life so that we may grow in wisdom." "Teach us to realize the brevity of life so that we may grow in wisdom."

So today I want to encourage you to do that. And the first way is the T in time, stands for treasure .We need to treasure the time that we have. We need to realize that today is a gift. In fact, somebody said it this way, that yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. And that's why it's called the present. You can make more money and you could probably be nursed back to health, but man, you can't make more time. So T is to treasure it.

I is to invest it, to invest it. You can't save time. You only get to invest it. And the places that we invest our time reveals what is important to us. We can't save it. We can only spend it and invest it. I love what Billy Graham said. He said, "time is the capital that God has given us to invest. People are the stocks in which we are to invest our time. And it doesn't matter whether they're blue chips or penny stocks or even junk bonds, we get to invest our time."

The M stands for manage it. God is the creator of time and he's the one that controls it. But when it's put in our laps, we get to decide what are the big things that we're going to put on our schedule first. If we're not careful, we'll let the little things crowd out the really great things God wants us to do.

And then the E stands for enjoy it. Enjoy the time that you have. Time with your family. It ought to be enjoyable. Time with your friends. It ought to be enjoyable. And one way to do that is to say no to the things that are time robbers. What are those things that pull you away from the most important relationships in your life? And say no to those things. And then say yes to making happy memories. One day we're all going to pass away. And one day there's going to be somebody talking about us at our funeral. Can you imagine how powerful it would be to leave them with plenty of happy memories that they can talk about?

So today, treasure it. Invest it. Manage it. And enjoy it. And as you do that, I think you'll find peace. You'll find better health. You'll have stronger relationships. And you'll find your purpose for living.

Have a great day. See you back here soon.
