God, thank You for being the One who heals not only bodies but also hearts and souls. I bring You the places in my life that feel broken, and I trust You to bring restoration—whether through miracles or through strength to endure. Help me to believe that nothing is impossible for You, even when I don’t understand the outcome. I know You are with me, and that gives me peace.
Hi friends, this is Chuck Allen. Welcome you to today's weekday podcast. I'm so grateful you've taken a few minutes out of your busy day to join me. And you know we want to talk about beyond medical impossibilities. As you heard in the introduction, we're talking through a series entitled what Only God Can Do. And there are some things we just can't do on our own, including we don't have the ability to change nature, including many things with our health, life can confront us with situations that seem medically impossible to change. And I want to talk about something that should bring all of us some tremendous hope. God can forever change health. We've made remarkable strides in medicine, haven't we? I mean, we can transplant organs, we can fight diseases that once decimated entire populations. We can extend lifespans in ways our grandparents could have never imagined. And despite all of our advancements, there remain limits to what human ingenuity can accomplish. And there's still diagnosis that leave doctors shaking their heads in conditions that defy our best treatments. But here's the beautiful truth. God is not limited by medical impossibilities. There's a powerful statement in Exodus where God simply says, I am the Lord who heals you, not I am the Lord who sometimes heals you if the conditions are right. Or I am the Lord who heals certain things but not others. Just I am the Lord who heals you. Period. I love the story in Mark's Gospel about the woman who had been bleeding for 12 years. Now just imagine, the text tells us. She'd suffered a great deal from many doctors and over the years she'd spent everything she had to pay them. But she'd gotten no better. In fact, she'd gotten worse. My heart breaks just thinking about her desperation. 12 years of non stop appointments, treatments and expenses only to continue declining. But when she reached out and touched the hem of Jesus garment, she was instantly healed. Jesus didn't need advanced medical equipment or he didn't need years of treatment protocols. Her condition changed in an instant. I'm reminded that there was a time when I. I saw my wife dying with cancer and knowing there was nothing that could be done. But I also remember a time when my daughter said, when is God going to heal Mommy. And the answer was impossible. But it came out like this. I'm not sure, sweetheart. But I know that God will heal her. He could heal her right now. He could heal her using chemotherap and surgery. God might choose to heal her in heaven, but any way you look at it, God's going to heal her. You might be thinking, chuck, I prayed for healing, and it hasn't come. Does that mean God doesn't want to change my situation? That's a pretty fair question, right? And I want to acknowledge the pain behind it. Been there, done that. God's healing doesn't always come in the ways that our timeframe expect or desire. Even Paul had what he called a thorn in his flesh that God chose not to remove. And instead, God told him, my grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness. You see, here's what I want you to understand. Whether God chooses to heal physically or to sustain us through illness, the fundamental truth remains. Only he has the power to transform our bodies and spirits beyond human capability. I love how the psalmist puts it in Psalm 103, let all that I am praise the Lord. May I never forget the good things he does for me. He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems me from death and crowns me with love and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things. Notice how comprehensive that is. God doesn't just address one aspect of our health. He forgives sin. He heals disease. He redeems from death. He crowns with love. He fills with good things. It doesn't get more holistic than that. This is complete transformation, and only God can do it. So whatever health challenge you're facing today, whether it's chronic illness, mental health, addiction, maybe just the ordinary effects of aging, know this. God's still in the business of changing what seems medically unchangeable. And sometimes that change comes through miraculous intervention. Sometimes it comes through treatments. Sometimes it comes through inner strength to endure. But in every case, it's God's power at work. I don't know what you're battling today, friend, but I do know this, that whatever diagnosis or prognosis you're facing, there is nothing beyond God's power to transform. So as you go about your day, I invite you to open your heart to the God who heals not just your physical ailments, but every part of you that needs restoration. Remember, friends, the story isn't over. The final word hasn't been spoken. The God who created your body in the first place is more than capable of restoring it, either in this life or the next. Until next time, this is Chuck Allen reminding you you're loved, you're valuable, and you'll never be alone on the journey. God bless you, friends. Thanks so much for listening to Today's Weekday Podcast.
