Practically Christian
Living our faith in real, tangible ways.
Previous practices: Scripture • Prayer • Silence & Solitude
Tonight’s focus: Sabbath
Rest isn’t weakness — it’s worship.
Sabbath isn’t just a day off — it’s a gift that reconnects us with God.
“By the seventh day God had finished the work He had been doing; so on the seventh day He rested… Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy.”
A rhythm built into creation
A reminder that we are not what we produce
A space to stop striving and start delighting
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.”
Sabbath is a command, not just a suggestion.
We tie our worth to our work
We’re addicted to noise
We don’t know how to slow down
We think Sabbath is a luxury
Choosing to rest is a declaration:
I am not what I do
God is in control
My limits are not a flaw
1. Stop – Put the to-do list down
2. Rest – Let your body and mind breathe
3. Delight – Enjoy what is good
4. Worship – Recenter on God’s presence and goodness
A walk outside
A slow meal with friends
A nap without guilt
Unplugging from screens
Listening for God’s voice
You don’t have to do it perfectly.
You just have to receive it.
Start small. Start somewhere. Start now.
“Come to Me, all who are weary… and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28
Rest isn’t doing nothing. It’s trusting that God is doing something.
