Wonder - Love That Moves Towards Us - December 21, 2025

1 John 4:9–11: “God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.”

It’s the move of God toward humanity. It’s love that shows up.

Love That Moves First

Love is not our idea. Love is not our discovery. Love is God’s movement toward us.

It means love is not our achievement — it’s God’s announcement.

And if you’ve ever felt unreachable, unworthy, unfixable, you need to hear this Advent truth:  God’s love moved first.

“Love moved first!”

• When shame told you to hide, love said, “I’m coming for you.”
• When fear built a wall, love said, “I’m breaking through.”
• When your heart said, “I’m done,” love said, “I’m not!”

the manger was never God’s backup plan. 

1 John 4:10: He sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

Because love that never costs you anything probably isn’t love — it’s preference.

• Love keeps moving, even when it hurts.  
• Love isn’t a feeling, it’s a choice you keep making.  
• Love doesn’t quit when it gets crucified!

Love That Flows Through Us

“Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.”

Notice — the love John describes isn’t static; it’s circular.

It flows from God → to us → through us → to others.

If love stops with you, it spoils.  

But if it flows through you, it multiplies.

• That means forgiveness where there’s been silence.  
• Compassion where there’s been judgment.  
• Presence where there’s been avoidance.
