You Asked for It - The Battle You Didn't Ask For - October 5, 2025

The Battle in your Mind

“What fills your mind will shape your life.”

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind...” (Romans 12:2a, NASB95)

Renewing

How do I change the way I think?

“Change your thoughts, and you’ll change your life.”

POINT 1 — EXAMINE YOUR THOUGHTS

“Do not be conformed to this world...” (Romans 12:2a, NASB95)

Conformed: Outwardly shaped, pressed into a patter that isn’t really yours.

thoughts → beliefs → actions.

If you don’t examine your thoughts, your thoughts will end up examining you.

•Pause before reacting.
•Name the pattern.
•Invite God in.
•Redirect with Scripture.

“Your thoughts are the tracks your life will run on."

POINT 2 — EXPOSE THE LIES

“...so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable
and perfect.” (Romans 12:2c, NASB95)

You can’t fight what you won’t face.

•Pay attention to the patterns.
•Hold it up to Scripture.
•Bring it into the light.
•Name it out loud.

“What you don’t expose, you’ll end up excusing

POINT 3 — EXCHANGE THEM FOR TRUTH

“...but be transformed by the renewing of your mind...” (Romans 12:2b, NASB95)

“renewing” - a complete renovation,

  • Recognize the lie.
    • Replace it with truth.
    • Repeat the process until it sticks.
  • Write that truth down.
  • Speak it out loud.
  • Meditate on it daily.
  • Pray it back to God.
  • Share it with someone you trust.

“For every lie you’ve believed, God has a truth that can set you free.”

POINT 4 — EQUIP YOUR FAITH

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17,
NASB95)

Faith grows when you keep putting God’s truth in front of you, over and over again.

•Listen to Scripture
•Speak declarations of truth
•Sing worship songs
•Pray Scripture out loud.
•Invite accountability.

“Faith is fueled by hearing truth on repeat.

CLOSING

Transformation doesn’t come from trying harder, but by letting God renew
your mind.

Your Next Step:

  • Write down one lie you’ve been believing.
  • Find one verse that directly replaces it with truth.
  • Post it where you’ll see it daily.
  • Speak it out loud until it becomes your new soundtrack.

“When God renews your mind, He rewrites your story—and that story is better than
you ever imagined.
